How did your production skills develop throughout this project?

Explain how your skills grew from beginner to intermediate: I started out not knowing what to do when originally making the first round project of the original static doors. Since then, I latched onto my idea and wanted to expand on the world-building for this movie that's normally seen throughout movies.

Share the process of research and planning: I was inspired by films like IT and WEAPONS to create this idea of horror. I wanted to create a film where big things were happening in a small town. Since the project has to be shorter than a regular movie, the scale needed to be shrunk down in the story so all criteria could be met. The story had to follow a one-person mystery to figure out what's going on with this noise that starts out from the TV but continues on through doors that aren't normal. That's where the story begins, sort of inspired by the backrooms.

Share the process of team collaboration and idea generation: The collaboration came from my cast, with them giving me some advice on how the scene should play out or even where to film for certain locations within the story.

Explain the whole process, from planning to production to postproduction: The planning wasn't easy, for coming up with ideas meant that I had to be inspired by preexisting media and had to come up with an original idea while still feeling familiar with the genre that I wanted to explore. Then when production came around, it was a little tricky to get the creative film idea that I wanted to have from the limitations being brought by the guideline requirements for this project, and I had to balance reshoots with postproduction while I would be in the middle of editing the film itself.

Explain how you began using basic tools and how their limitations made you move on to more advanced software (Premiere Pro): No tools were used for editing, except Premiere Pro. This is because Premiere Pro is the only app that is helpful and useful enough to be the editing software for my project.

Explain how you faced problems and technical limitations and how you fixed them: I faced storage limitations on the camera I used to record. I had to clear up old videos on my camera to make room for my project footage. I also had to do reshoots for multiple scenes so the movie could make more sense. The hardest part of that was just scheduling time to film with my actors.

Explain how you learned different rules of composition: I learned how to incorporate the different rules of composition, like the rule of thirds, into the film when filming some of the scenes.

Explain how you learned the basics of the camera and its manual settings (shutter speed, ISO, white balance, color temperature, focus points, frame rates, etc.): I learned everything on the go while filming, and it really helped. It made it all a part of the natural creative process needed for working on a project like this one.

Explain how you learned different types of camera movements, shots, and angles: Having multiple takes of the same scenes with different camera angles, shots, and movements was really helpful. I was able to figure out in postproduction what worked best to build suspense and move the story along. I utilized a lot of tracking from behind shots of my main character to show she was being followed.

Explain how you learned to use different types of lighting and shadows in your production: I used natural lighting and artificial lighting to help me capture a scene to make it visible what time of day or night it was taking place in.

Explain how you learned to use different type faces and fonts: I had to go through some trial and error before I found the right ones. I also used inspiration from TV shows like Stranger Things to help showcase that my film was a horror film.

Explain how you learned to manage the hectic process of post-production: By using time wisely, it helped me with dealing with the editing and the process of putting the movie together in its proper order.
